Okayama (???) is the capital city of Okayama Prefecture in the Ch?goku region of Japan. Okayama prefecture(Okayama-ken) is in the western Chugoku region of the main Japanese island Honshu. Okayama city is famous for its Okayama University.
The city is known as the site of the Korakuen Gardens and the black Okayama Castle, which is a modern reconstruction. The popular Japanese folktale of Momotaro may have originated here.
